Xi’an Jiaotong University

School of International Education was established in 2006, is responsible for the comprehensive affairs of all the foreigner students which are to formulate and supervise the policies, students recruitment, immigration and logistics, students daily life affairs, coordination of students academic work, undergraduate students program of Chinese language teaching and academic development. School consists of four major functional departments i.e. Administration Office, Admissions Office, International students affairs office, International students housing service and Chinese language teaching department. The staff consists of 21 members, amongst them 12 are functional members and 9 of them are Chinese language teachers. Since the establishment, the school has trained nearly 3,000 outstanding foreign students. Foreigner students are studying in more than 36 major subjects and 10 colleges

The number of foreigner students reflects the important indicator of University’s international scale. Foreigner students education can not only promote a country’s education, research and economic development, but also takes part in the dissemination of national culture, to develop and expand its friendly international influence, etc. In order to implement the “Long-term education reforms and development plan of China (2010-2020)”, China Ministry of Education drew out a study plan for foreigner students. Regarding foreigner students, China will become Asia’s largest country as the number of students will reach 500,000 by 2020. The university plans to enroll 3000 foreigner students by 2020.

MBBS Program

Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)

The MBBS program aims to help students to gain knowledge in medicine and to lay a solid foundation for a successful career as a doctor. In this program (MBBS), students will develop their professional ethnics, skills and basic knowledge on medicine, and demonstrate both analytical and problem solving ability with ample proficiency in diagnosis and management of common disease.

The MBBS program is taught in English medium except Chinese language classes. In the first year, students learn Chinese, physics, mathematics and Medical English. They learn, Computers Application, Anatomy, Embryology,

Physiology, Immunology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Pathophysiology, Pathological anatomy, Cell Biology, Parasitology, Preventive medicine, Epidemiology, Health statistics, and Pharmacology in the following two and half years. In the second half of the third year, the fourth year and the fifth year, courses include Diagnostics, Radiology, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and obstetrics, Pediatrics,

Infectious Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry, and Emergency medicine. Students have a compulsory rotation internship of one year.

In the last year of the MBBS program, students are required to have a one- year practical training in either hospitals of their home countries or one of the three affiliated hospitals of Xi’an Jiaotong University. The courses of internship are Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Pediatrics and Infectious Medicine. During Internship emphasis will be laid on practical “hands-on” experience. The concerned departments will be encouraged to develop a diary / log book which gives details of tasks / cases to be seen by the interns.

The graduation test consists of theoretical examination (60%) and clinical skills examination (40%). Subjects for examinations include Internal Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology and Obstetrics and Pediatrics.

Those who are successfully qualified in all compulsory courses, fulfill internship and pass graduation tests will be awarded Bachelor Degree of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.

  • Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma (Student expecting to graduate should provide an official letter declaring expected graduation date), either in English or Chinese
  • Notarized copies of academic transcripts, including courses taken and scores obtained. Notarized copies of extra-curricular achievement (if any).
  • A copy of your HSK result (optional).
  • Two photocopies of your valid passport (Passport type must be ordinary) and two recent passport size photographs.
  • Certificate of no-criminal
  • An application fee RMB 500 (non-refundable).

After examining the application, the admission office will make a decision on admission notification. The successful candidates will be provided with an admission notice, a JW202 form (Visa application form), and a health examination form. These documents will be posted to the permanent mailing address of the applicants.

* Note: The rooms are provided with a bathroom, a TV set, an air conditioner, central heating system, a study desk, chair(s), wardrobes, bed(s) and bedding, and an internet access socket. There is a public kitchen on each floor, providing with an electric stove and a washing machine.
